Asking for reviews without being pushy

When to ask, what to say, and making it one tap.

Most happy customers will leave a review. They just don't think of it, and they won't hunt for the page.

Ask at the right time. The best moment is right after a good visit, while they're still happy. A thank-you the next day works better than one a week later.

Keep the ask short. One line of thanks, one line asking, and the link. For example: “Thanks for coming in today! If you have a minute, a quick review helps us a lot.” Don't ask for five stars. Just ask for a review.

Make it one tap. Send the link that opens the review box itself, not your profile. Google, Yelp and Facebook each have one.

Put it at the counter. A QR code by the register or on the receipt catches people while they wait. Phones open it with the camera.

Ask once. One ask, one reminder at most. More than that feels pushy, and it's the fastest way to get a review you didn't want.

Answer the reviews. Thank people who leave good ones. Answer the bad ones calmly, and offer to make it right. Future customers read the replies too.

Ask by email. kaylin sends review requests by email, to customers who gave you their address.

With kaylin: add your review link to Ask for a review. kaylin uses it in every review request and makes a QR code of it to print.
